Location: Fully Remote | Employment Type: Full-time | Reports to: CTO

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Quality Engineering to own software quality across the technology organisation.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a traditional QA management position. You will not manage a dedicated QA team. Instead, you will define the quality framework, standards, tooling and automated release gates that enable engineering teams to own quality within their products.

A key focus will be AI-assisted and agentic testing, with the goal of making quality enforcement increasingly automated.

You will work closely with Engineering Managers, Platform, Frontend & Mobile, Data, Tech Leads and engineers across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the organisation-wide quality engineering framework and standards.
• Define testing and coverage standards across unit, service, integration and E2E testing.
• Build and improve CI/CD quality gates that can automatically block releases when standards aren’t met.
• Lead the development of AI-assisted test generation, regression testing and agentic QA tooling.
• Establish quality metrics including coverage, defect escape rate and release quality.
• Enable engineering teams to own quality through tooling, documentation and best practices.
• Partner with Platform on test environments, test data and integration infrastructure.
• Integrate SAST, DAST and dependency scanning into quality gates.
• Drive a shift towards highly automated quality enforcement.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years in Software Quality Engineering, Test Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Proven experience owning quality frameworks across engineering organisations.
• Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD quality gates and automated testing.
• Experience across unit, API/service, integration and E2E testing.
• Practical exposure to AI-assisted testing, LLM test generation or agentic QA.
• Strong understanding of distributed, event-driven microservices and contract testing.
• Experience defining and measuring quality metrics.
• Ability to influence engineering teams without direct management authority.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Strong mobile-first testing experience is essential.
• Experience in fintech, payments, banking or another regulated environment is highly desirable.

• Production experience with generative/agentic AI testing.
• Team Topologies experience.
• SAST/DAST and security testing experience.
• Crypto, Web3, custody or blockchain experience.
• Open-source contributions or thought leadership in quality engineering.
